Deportivo Alaves are the champions of the 2015-16 Segunda Division and hence they won promotion to La Liga for the 2016-17 season. El Glorioso, which is the nickname of the club, was founded in 1921 and plays home matches at 19,840-capacity Mendizorrotza. The last time that Deportivo Alaves have played in La Liga was in the 2005/06 season, when they were immediately relegated to the Segunda Division after an 18th place finish.
The kits of Alaves are designed by Hummel. The home shirt has a blue base colour with four white vertically stripes on the body. The Hummel traditional graphic design appears on each sleeve in white as well as on the sides of the body of the shirts and on the sides of the shorts. Blue shorts and blue socks complement the home shirt. The away shirt has a crimson base colour. It has black patches on the shoulders and sides of the body. The Hummel graphic designs appear in white in the same places as on the home kit. The away shorts and socks are white. Both the home and the away shirts feature polo-style collars. A green goalkeeper kit is being used.
