As the French Ligue 1 2016/17 concluded its first round of fixtures, we take a look at the shirts of the current league leaders, OGC Nice.
Nice currently lead the standings with 44 points, 2 points ahead of second-placed Monaco whilst defending champions Paris Saint-Germain lie in third place with 39 points. French striker Alassane Plea leads the scoring charts of the club with 10 goals, whilst former Italy international Mario Balotelli follows, with 8 goals.
Mario Balotelli handed number 9 shirt
Unlike his previous clubs, Mario Balotelli was handed the number 9 shirt at Nice, instead of his preferred ’45’. This is because of French Ligue 1 rules which stipulate that the player list submitted by Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs cannot exceed 30 names and the number 30 is that last in the list which may be used by the players.
OGC Nice’s kits are manufactured by Italian brand. The new home shirt features the club’s traditional black and red stripes with a classic white Y-shaped collar, which has a subtle black and red detail.
The new OGC Nice away shirt is primarily white with a button-up black collar, with subtle red detail. The shirt also features black bands around the sleeve hems with red trim.
The new Nice third shirt is primarily black with red detail. The club logo is featured in monochrome red, whilst the kit manufacturer and club sponsor are featured in red across the front.
