Sheffield Wednesday reveal design for 2017/18 third shirt commemorating 150th anniversary

English Championship club Sheffield Wednesday Football Club will be celebrating their 150th anniversary this year, having been founded in 1867. The club was originally founded as The Wednesday FC and it was only in 1929 that they changed to their current name.

The Owls had asked fans to submit their ideas for the the 2017/18 third kit design to commemorate the special occasion and the club has now announced the winning design, which was submitted by Owls fan Karl Nuttall. Karl’s design will be the working foundation for the actual third kit to be worn by Wednesday next season, which we can expect to be primarily white with gold detail. It has a neat button-up polo collar, features a commemorative anniversary patch on the top right part of the chest with the club crest on the opposite side. The shirt is complemented by gold shorts and white and gold hooped socks.
